My workout 7.19 was participating in the #Happiest5k with my mom. We ran The Color Run - Columbus and the Kaleidoscope Tour 2014 did not disappoint (minus the rainy weather right before the race). My mom and I ran through the streets of downtown Columbus finishing at the ribfest. It was a great time and a nice way to get a fun workout in over the weekend. Our before and after pictures are below. The Color Run ended at the Jazz and Rib Fest but we decided to head over to try out Hot Chicken Takeover, a new restaurant in Columbus. I had heard a lot about how great this place was and the timing of when we left the race after party coincided perfectly with the opening time of HCT. HCT is known for selling out before the 5pm close time so I was not surprised that when we arrived around 11:30 (they open at 12) there were already patrons anxiously waiting at the picnic tables. We got a full explanation of how the place worked from Joe the head fryer, basically your options are cold (very little spice, just a little red pepper), hot (the standard, there is no medium), and holy (3x's hotter than hot, only about 2-3% of patrons can eat it). Hot chicken comes from Nashville and it is amazing! You get your choice of chicken pieces served with baked mac and cheese, cole slaw, bread, and bottomless sweet tea & water. There is also all the ranch you can handle, I'm told it helps curb the heat. We got ours to go but next time I want to dine in so I can eat at one of the cute communal picnic tables. If you are going to be in the Columbus area during a weekend, I definitely suggest stopping by to get a delicious meal. Like them on Facebook and/or follow them on Twitter so that you can get updates on how much chicken is left. You don't want to get there and they are sold out, that would be a total bummer!
