I always hear people talking about hitting the barre for an intense workout but never had the opportunity to try a class, well that all changed thanks to Barre3 and their Barre3 In The Park series! The (FREE!) class was held outside at the Franklin Park Conservatory here in Columbus. The weather was perfect and the scenery was beautiful setting the tone for my new fitness adventure. For those of you that are not familiar, barre workouts are a mixture of Ballet Barre, Yoga, and Pilates. At the end of my workout I realized that barre is no joke! We spent an hour working (without the actual barre) and I can only imagine what a class in studio feels like. The ladies around me were also new to barre and we exchanged glances many times throughout the class to keep each other motivated to continue. It was tough but very rewarding. While I'm not sure if barre will become my newest workout obsession (I'm still very much a spinning and yoga kinda girl) but I will keep my eye out for special workshops and classes to join every now and then. If you want more info on Barre3 visit their website. They have studios across the country and even a series of online classes that you can pay for access to so you can workout in the privacy of your own home. Maybe one day I will see you at the barre (or at a special event offsite).
